Dialysis

WHAT IS HEMODIALYSIS?

It is the process of cleaning harmful substances accumulated in the body in patients with kidney failure. We need a vascular access in order to perform hemodialysis.

TEMPORARY VASCULAR LINE

The catheter can be inserted;

– From the groin

– Under the collarbone

– From the neck.

We can apply hemodialysis treatment to the patient using the catheter immediately after the catheter is inserted. Therefore, we can use it in emergency cases.

PERMANENT VASCULAR LINE

Fistula: It is the surgical connection of two veins.
Graft: It is the insertion of an artificial vein.

At least 2-3 weeks must pass before the fistula and graft can be used for hemodialysis.

HEMODIALYSIS PROCEDURE

It is the process of using the patient's vascular access, cleaning the dirty blood taken from the patient in the machine and returning it to the patient through the same vascular access. Dialysis is usually performed 2 or 3 times a week. The number of times you will undergo dialysis per week, the duration of dialysis and other parameters will be determined by your doctor on a 'patient-specific' basis.
